At Larrick Law Office we also offer clients "unbundled legal services" and guidance for self help in family law matters.
What are unbundled legal services?
"Unbundled legal services" allow an attorney to represent clients in a limited manner. Unbundling breaks down the multiple roles an attorney plays into a smaller group of tasks and allows the client to select only the services they require to prepare their case. Washington State has adopted rules permitting people to represent themselves in court without an attorney (referred to as "pro se") while still permitting attorneys to perform certain tasks for the client. These rules allow people to receive the benefit of legal advice in the drafting of documents and preparation of their cases without having to pay an attorney to appear in court on their behalf, unless specific arrangements have been made for this.
How do unbundled legal services differ from traditional representation?
Unbundled legal services allow an attorney to limit the scope of his or her representation of a client. There are certain risks and benefits associated with limited representation. We will provide you with the same meaningful legal advice as any other client. We will rely upon your representation of the facts, unless we have reason to believe that the factual representation is false or materially insufficient. If you elect to use unbundled or limited representation services, you need to be aware that this type of representation does result in the attorney having fewer responsibilities to you.
With the freedom of unbundled legal services comes responsibility. You will be responsible for filing your pleadings on time. You will be responsible for gathering information. You will be responsible for structuring your support package. We will coach you and make suggestions, but it will be your job to apply those suggestions to your case and carry through. Unbundling services puts you in the role of the director and decision maker overseeing your case and the ultimate responsibility for the outcome of your case will be yours.
How much do unbundled services cost?
Unbundled services are billed at our regular hourly rate for such services. Payment for the services will be in accordance with the fee agreement between you and the attorney.
At Larrick Law Office we are happy to tailor the level of legal services that we provide to your specific needs.
